See you all soon

Woo-hoo! It just doesn't get much better than yak-riding in Tibet at a 17,000-foot pass, and as you see, life was good that day last October.

"How good was it?" Beyond good: so overall memorable and wonderful that I am returning with Jeff for my second visit. As people ask me what I liked about Tibet, I reply "I was happy there."

I hope you each will find your own reasons to be happy in Tibet. It is not luxury travel, as was my recent cruise to Alaska, but I am delighted to return in just a few weeks. Another woman from our 2006 tour group is making her return trip, too.

I wrote a blog last year where some of our tour members got to know each other ahead of time, and we found that we enjoyed it. Please share a little about yourself here at Tibet in October 2007!

Karen, I liked your blog, especially the photo. It is certainly a good sign that you and others are returning to Tibet. This will be my first trip there. Have been to China many times but not Tibet. I am somewhat concerned about the altitude although I have medication and will be careful. Thanks for the update. I look forward to meeting you and the others early next month. I am taking the train from Beijing to Lhasa and look forward to that experience.

Sincerely, Ted Mosch (tmosch@utm.ed)

Hi Carole,
What a great idea to start a blog. Am looking forward to Tibet - was in Bhutan last December and liked it. Am leaving tomorrow for LA and then on to Shanghai. Am touring through some of China with Leo before joining the group in Beijing. Afterwards we go to Nepal and Northern India. Am an art historian and retired from Yale.
See you soon,
Anne-Marie (Connecticut; annemlogan@msn.com)

Karen told some of us who were on the tour last year about the blog. So I will chime in. I have tried to find the world geography book that had the picture of the Potala. I studied it over 50 years ago in a one-room country school in Nebraska. I am envious of those who are able to repeat the trip we took almost a year ago. It was a wonderful experience. When I sit quietly and think about it, the warm glow returns. I truly understand what Karen means when she says she was happy there. Our vacation this year will be more traditional, but I'm still hopeful that, in the not too distant future, I can work with Jeff to do the Mt. Kailash trek. So many destinations - so little time. Perhaps when I retire there will be more time?!? Carole & Karen - I do hope you will send along a missive and let us know how things are different, the same, better, worse. I so wish I could join you. Safe travels!! Joe
